£40,000 - £45,000 pro rata



The Role:

Reporting in to the Underwriting Manager, the purpose of this role is to assist Senior Business Analysts in managing the reporting and monitoring activities of the business including business planning, reserving and provision of management information. This role is based in the Property & Casualty division and will involve interaction within the Underwriting Management function, senior management and underwriters.

Responsibilities:

To assist the Senior Business Analysts with the following:
  • Produce agendas in consultation with Business Unit, Underwriting Manager and Senior Business Analyst;
  • Maintain Audit Trail of discussions and changes to business plan and reserve numbers;
  • Co-ordinate responses to ad-hoc queries from the reserving actuaries;
  • Prepare supporting reports and business plan papers for discussions with class underwriters and review committees;
  • Produce and compare revenue reports of performance against business plans and provide commentary including quarterly reforecasts;
  • Monitor accuracy of recorded premium and writing the daily / weekly underwriting stats;
  • Assist with testing on system changes;
  • Assist the Senior Business Analyst in producing quarterly and annual Government Reinsurance returns;
  • Set up the Underwriting Authority Line guide tables and monitor underwriter exceptions;
  • Assist with Group Underwriting reporting which include reviews of long term contracts, fronting arrangements and underwriter exceptions.

Key Competencies:
  • Extensive experience of working as a Business Analyst within a Lloyd's of London insurer;
  • Ideally experience of Property & Casualty underwriting processes;
  • Able to show initiative and work with limited supervision to achieve individual and team deadlines;
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills including proficient use of Excel;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong communication skills.
