Infrastructure Architect - Technical Leader and Head of IT - MCSE

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

In addition to your management role you will have recent design and architecture experience around Windows Server, SQL and Cloud technologies. You should be able to write and present business solutions and craft technical solutions which will enhance our business requirements. You should have strong 3rd party supplier management skills and have led a project to move services to the Cloud

·Lead and manage people within the overall IT team, with accountability for providing management, coaching, mentoring and development.

·Create and maintain a cohesive, efficient, responsive and appropriately skilled team, driving the overall performance to levels which excel in service delivery.

·Ensure that the UK IT environment is available, secure, up to date, managed and reliable and supporting our strategy and programs whilst being risk managed by a thorough disaster recovery plan.

·Oversee the management of all Information Technology activities within their span of control whilst remaining within budget.

·Ensure the Information Technology Division adheres to work plans and KPIs, delivering key items on time, within budget and in accordance with best practice, providing regular reporting to senior staff as required.

·Propose and develop IT Strategies in collaboration with the ELT;

·Establish IT department strategic and operational goals, objectives and KPIs to ensure infrastructure and operational capacity meets existing and future growth requirements;

·Manage the design, implementation and maintenance of the entire IT group to ensure that IT Services are available, reliable and appropriate within agreed service level agreements (SLA);

·Must have had very recent hands on technical experience both from an infrastructure server design and rationalisation perspective

Core competencies and skills

experience in a senior management/senior leadership position, managing staff, communicating expectations, managing performance and planning professional development;Experience in managing within an outsourced/hybrid delivery model – vendors, services, contracts etc.Particular experience in managing sensitive data; assessing risks, managing a security programme and ensuring alignment with government and EU (GDPR) requirementsPrior experience in leading the engagement and delivery of a range of technology related functions with particular reference to:Technology Infrastructure ie Windows, SQL, Hyper-V, Dell and Windows 7/10 (EUC), System Centre, Office365 etc.Information System Architecture (including data and application architecture) SQL and .Net, ad-hoc warehouses and cubes for reportingSystem Development internally developed reporting and cubes/warehousing, module development and supportAppropriate Tertiary Qualification in Business and/or Information Processing;Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills.Delivery and integration of a business-wide IT solution through experience in dealing with business management, vendors and suppliers, including contract management and vendor negotiations;You need to be able to lead the team on discussions and implementations of SQL migrations, Windows Server 2003 remediation, GDPR engagement and alignment, technical works prioritisation, proactively managing vendors (not just vendor management), pragmatic and ‘up to date’ cyber security considerations, server fleet rationalisation, engagement in technical discussions with the global team on mid-term cloud/Azure migrations, network rationalisation etc.Soft skills

Proven experience in uplifting technology (infrastructure, applications etc.), driving cultural improvements within teams, motivating staff, driving outcomes (must be able to outline how outcomes were achieved)Preferably has come from a Technical or solution architect position – should be a technical leader that can assess, prioritise and deliver infrastructure improvements themselves (as opposed to managing others to do it)
