My client is a top ranked, technology-driven quantitative proprietary trading firm based in the City with beautiful offices. The firm is run by renowned ex-traders, Computer Scientists and Olympiad winning mathematicians. The trading is entirely automated through high-performance infrastructure so this role will have a heavy orientation towards automation and system optimization. The position covers a wide spectrum from super low level tuning/tweaking of network and hardware drivers to building/supporting their 'state of the art' trading platform. You'll be encouraged to evaluate, innovate, implement and manage robust intelligent solutions to problems whilst bringing in new ideas. (A full and detailed spec is available)



The successful Senior Linux Systems / DevOps Engineer will have the following skills and experience:

  • A genuine passion in Linux, Open-source and DevOps (eg. attend meet-ups or personal projects etc)
  • 3+ years' experience of DevOps, TechOps or Site Reliability Engineering
  • A Linux administration background (CentOS / Redhat) and ideally a Linux lab at home
  • Strong scripting in ideally Python or Bash
  • Experience with various configuration management and provisioning tools including; Puppet, Vagrant, Ansible, Chef, Salt, or Docker
  • Experience working across cloud platforms but ideally AWS - Amazon Web Services
  • Knowledge around the security and hardening of systems
  • Knowledge around Networking configuration and protocols
  • Good exposure to relational databases
  • A computing or mathematical related degree from a reputable University
  • Being a self-starter with a strong desire to learn, grow and use new technology
  • Most importantly, a personality!
