JOB TITLE: Fundraising Manager / Project Fundraiser

SALARY & BENEFITS: £31,527 to £36,350 per annum plus benefits & 25 working days plus Bank Holidays (or a day off in place of a Bank Holiday worked)

WORKING HOURS: Full Time (35 hours per week Monday to Friday) - Fixed Term Contract for 3 years

THE COMPANY: The Diocese of Winchester is not only the people, churches and schools that make it up, but also an organisation that supports those communities and governs the Diocese.

Founded in 676AD it is one of the five senior dioceses of the Church of England. The Diocese consists of about two thirds of the County of Hampshire and most of Bournemouth in the County of Dorset, excluding Portsmouth and the area immediately to its north and north-east.

They now seek an experienced Fundraising Manager / Project Fundraiser who has strong inter-personal and influencing skills developed in professional fundraising role to join their existing team.

THE ROLE: As a Fundraising Manager / Project Fundraiser your main focus will be to support the creation, development and delivery of a fundraising strategy to directly support the Diocesan Mission Strategy Winchester: Mission Action which is a new programme which aims to engage with ‘missing generations’ of young people, bring the Christian message to those who have not previously heard it and deliver sustainable Church growth for the common good. Through new projects designed to reach people in every location within the community, the Diocese of Winchester intends to re-establish the Church as a partner with other organisations in tackling challenges in society.

You will be responsible for implementing a strategy, to develop new ways to attract donors/funds, explore and assess a range of fundraising approaches to help identify the ‘best fit’ for the diocesan context, based on the range of potential donors and sources of income available and ensure fundraising targets are met. You will continue to build effective relationships with existing and potential donors and take the lead in asking for donations for certain donor segments.

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate must have previous experience and proven success in fundraising, sales, key account management and/or professional networking with a range of groups / organisations with multiple partners. You should be an effective communicator who can network, build effective lasting relationships and has strong inter-personal skills and is able to influence well. Candidates with backgrounds in areas such as sales, key account management and professional networking who can demonstrate the required competencies are also encouraged and welcomed to apply. Candidates must be able to commute to Winchester, Hampshire and have their own transport to travel between locations. Although not essential, experience of working within, or alongside, the Church of England or other Christian mission organisations is desirable.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Fundraising Manager / Project Fundraiser's role in Winchester, Hampshire :-

- Previous experience and proven success in fundraising, sales, key account management and/or professional networking with a range of groups / organisations essential
- Must have strong inter-personal skills and be able to influence
- Experience managing resources, strategy planning & delivery on projects essential
- Understanding of the issues of church planting and missional outreach would be desirable
- Must be able to commute to Winchester, Hampshire and use of own transport essential
