Senior Hardware Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in the design and integration of submarine combat systems? An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join BAE Systems at either our Frimley, Weymouth or Broad Oak site.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be working within the team responsible for developing the cabinets and enclosures for submarine combat systems. You will be carrying out physical design activities, which will involve the design of hardware such as system enclosures, racks and cabinets, and their integration into the submarine.

This is an excellent opportunity to influence the design of critical pieces of equipment, which will have a lasting impact on the capability of the Royal Navy for decades to come.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Hardware Engineer will involve:

Providing technical oversight of design activities for hardware equipment such as enclosures and cabinets

Managing the requirements flow for hardware design through to internal and external suppliers

Carrying out acceptance activities for products submitted by supplier organisations

Leading the qualification, test, and requirements management aspects of physical design

Defining the qualification obligations for the assurance hold points during build, test and commissioning

Identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to manage the resulting change embodiment activities

Mentoring and assisting more junior members of the team in the execution of their duties

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Hardware Engineer:

Essential:

Design engineering experience (ideally electrical/electronically biased)

Experience gained from a complex engineering environment, such as: defence, aerospace, nuclear, power, oil & gas etc.

Desirable:

Experience arranging and supervising on non-functional testing performed by 3rd parties

DOORS software experience

Experience of integration of designs on to military platforms

What we're looking for in you:

We are looking for an autonomous, motivated person. Taking responsibilities for your own work, you will be confident to work without immediate supervision, and capable of indirectly supervising others around you to ensure the swift and accurate delivery of high quality work.

Location: Frimley, Weymouth or Broad Oak

Salary: Competitive

Benefits: Our employees receive an excellent benefits package which includes a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. We also offer a range of additional benefits such as flexible working, an employee assistance programme, childcare vouchers, Cycle2work and many local and national employee discounts. Some employees may also be eligible for an annual incentive.
