Harvey Nash are recruiting an experienced QA Engineer on a fixed term contract basis on behalf of our client, a market leading software house in Edinburgh. Our client designs and develops award winning software-based solutions for their financial services client base. The QA Engineer will be responsible for testing cutting-edge client facing software, developed using the latest .NET tools and technologies in an Agile environment. Main responsibilities of the role will include; Design, write and execute manual and automated tests. Assist in the implementation of test automation frameworks. Assist with clarification of functional and non-functional requirements. Use bug tracking systems to submit, track and manage defects. Analyse test results at the story or feature level and provide meaningful reports to project team. Maintain software testing artefacts. Use queries to create test data and analyse results. Help ensure coverage for each software release. Champion Quality and testing across all phases of the SDLC Suggest process and execution improvements for the QA phases of the SDLC. Mentor less experienced team members. The successful candidate will be degree educated in a relevant subject and have; A strong Mathematical background Solid QA experience and experience of testing web and/or desktop applications as well as Cloud Services Strong knowledge of all stages of the SDLC. Able to work well within the constructs of an agile process, including SCRUM, Continuous Build and Integration, etc. Knowledge of a wide range of QA methodologies Strong understanding of Web-based technology architecture and data structures Ability to write test plans Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently or lead QA on a project Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong analytical and diagnostic skills as well as attention to detail Critical thinking skills and the ability to analyse requirements for ambiguities and discrepancies Aptitude for thinking outside the box to develop thorough test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test scripts Ability to investigate a defect, isolate its probable cause and provide a reliable method for reproducing it. Strong understanding of the QA processes, methodologies and Software Testing Lifecycle Database Testing skills C#/JavaScript/TypeScript scripting experience Strong experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium / protractor Strong understanding of QA testing tools and environments This is an excellent opportunity for a QA Test Engineer with experience across Functional and Non-Functional Testing within a financial services environment and a deep understanding of the entire software development lifecycle within an Agile / Continuous Integration Environment. Preferably you will be ISEB/ISTQB certified. You will be flexible, goal focussed and possess the ability to learn quickly, as well as the ability and desire to work as part of a self-organised team, and also independently.
