Job Summary

The purpose of the role is to understand the business relevance and impact of Application security risks and provide an effective intelligence capability and incident response process for the UK Market Unit (UKMU) applications in collaboration with other support functions across UKIT and beyond.

To that end the role holder will work with the UK MU Head of Information Security to provide the UKMU with a technical security capability that will safeguard the security, confidentiality, integrity and availability of Bupa UKMU information systems in compliance with the relevant legislation, regulations and standards.

Accountabilities & Activities:

Security Operations
  • Lead for all UKMU technical application security matters such as threat assessments, building secure coding and testing into the SDLC (SAST, OWASP, CSC top 20, etc.). Provide assurance that security requirements are fully met prior to systems being transitioned into operations and are maintained once in operation.
  • Using SIEM and other security and operational tools, monitor and analyse the UKMU application estate to ensure potential or real exposures and behaviours are identified and resolved with minimal impact to business operations.
  • Act on security events, requests and incidents to ensure that threats, vulnerabilities and breaches are managed to minimise impact to confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data.
  • Perform security risk, vulnerability assessments, and business impact analysis as required.


Information Security Governance
  • Provide IT Security services and advice to meet business need; undertaking security assurance activities relating to programmes and projects and perform vulnerability assessments and carry out risk management activities.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the requirements for end-to-end security controls across Bupa UKMU's application and data estate in collaboration with experts in other functions, e.g. GS&T Information Security, UK Information Governance.
  • Understand corporate policies and develop Market Unit specific (i.e. enforceable) policies.
  • Review, improve and ensure security is incorporated into departmental processes and procedures.
  • Develop and refine and dashboards and reports to show the latest status and trends and improve security situational awareness across UKMU.

  • Forward & Reverse Proxies
  • Identity & Access Management
  • PKI
  • Key Management Systems
  • Citrix, Windows & UNIX/Linux operating systems (including hardening and patching of core OS as well as utilisation of command line tools)
