We currently have a number of exciting positions for Full Stack Developers to join our team to design and develop a greenfield digital product. This is a Fintech focused programme with a start-up approach. You will be joining the Customer and Innovation team where you will be building a product to help small business run their finances better via a new mobile app.

The banking industry is undergoing an exciting transformation that is reshaping the array of exciting new propositions and services available to customers. The Customer and Innovation team within Santander in the UK is growing and needs support in delivering 'Best in Class' propositions for Businesses, using new emerging and existing technologies. The specific project is at an early stage but requires pragmatic practitioners as the project moves out from Ideation/ Discovery phase into Design and Build - so we're looking for individuals who are up for the challenge of working with a start-up mentality.

Forming part of the DevOps team which empowers people to make the right decisions, Full-Stack Engineers will work in a highly collaborative environment and will be fully empowered and accountable for the design, development, automation, infrastructure, quality, service and support activities.

As a Full-Stack Developer, your main responsibilities will be:
  • Developing all server-side logic to ensure the back-end can deliver the level of performance and responsiveness required by the Front-end
  • Ensuring the delivery of quality software whilst performing functional and technical analysis
  • Integrating the front-end elements built by the team and other 3rd party services so that we deliver a fantastic, smooth experience to our customers
  • Developing bespoke solutions and work to integrate 3rd party software
  • Integrating services and applications via APIs and user interfaces whilst writing reusable, testable and efficient code
  • Supporting continuous automated delivery and monitor services in production

Minimum skills and experience required
  • Proficient experience of one or more of Java (preferable), JavaScript, C#, Ruby, Python, Spark, HTML5/CSS3, Node.js, Kafka
  • Proven experience with NoSQL databases e.g. MongoDB, cloud services, API REST (HTTP/JSON), and web services (SOAP/HTTP)
  • Proven familiarity with accessibility and security compliance
  • Proven experience of Agile Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery ways of working, BDD (Behaviour-driven development) and TDD (Test-driven Development)
  • Proven ability to solve problems coupled with excellent communication skills with the ability to translate jargon into a more user friendly language
