REED Accountancy are pleased to be working with a large public sector organisation based just outside central Bristol who are looking to for a new junior finance analyst to join their team.

This role is the perfect blend of finance business partnering, technical accounting and financial analysis.

The role will see you working as part of a team of 5, line managed by a senior analyst and ultimately reporting to the head of the division. You will sit with the wider financial analysis team of 20 and as a team you will be responsible for delivering robust, timely, consistent and quality information to the business to enable them to meet challenging revenue, profit and cash generation growth targets.

Within the team responsibilities include the following:

o Budget and Quarterly Forecast.
o Weekly performance reporting.
o Period end deliverables, including insightful analysis to explain movements in key numbers and ad hoc journals as required.
o Ad hoc reporting and analysis at line manager’s request.
o Assisting with improving the understanding and impact of balance sheet and cash flow reporting on business performance
o Development and maintenance of standardised budget and forecast input models, which can be easily understood by non-financial managers.
o Develop and maintain relationships with key OpCo stakeholders/budget holders.
o Ensure continued consistency of assumptions, processes and procedures across First Bus.
o Drive efficiency/best practice projects as appropriate.
o Responsible for ensuring that CPD is ongoing.
o Any other duties as required.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

o Has previous exposure to accounting either through study or professional experience, with a working knowledge of debits and credits.
o Willing to start training or already training or to be a member of a recognised accountancy professional body (preferably ACA, CIMA or ACCA).
o Comfortable working in a changing environment and is comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change.
o Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills.
o Enthusiastic and has a willingness to learn.
o Strong Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUP, Pivot tables etc).
o Commercially astute and able to see the bigger picture.
o Performs well under pressure and able to deliver to tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
o Tenacious, with a willingness to act as ‘Devil’s Advocate’ as required.
o Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial terms to non-financial stakeholders clearly.
o Takes ownership and accountability for work performed.
o Supportive of others and contributes to team morale.
o Hyperion & SAP skills a bonus.
