Full Time

Miller Sands solicitors are looking for a full time experienced Legal Secretary to work in both the litigation team and the private client department. The successful applicant will work 2 days per week in each department, and the fifth day to be flexible depending on the firm’s needs at the time.

Experience of working in one of these two areas of work would be desirable and training will be given as needed.

Our litigation team comprises a partner and a senior solicitor with a mixed civil litigation caseload, working for business clients and individuals, and often involves the preparation of court papers. The successful applicant will be able to work under time pressure, as the nature of the work often means keeping to strict deadlines.

The private client department comprises three solicitors who deal with mainly non-contentious work, being wills, powers of attorney and probate. The work will be mixed, and involves drafting documents and letters, making payments, file administration etc.

The successful applicant will be good at working as part of a team, both with solicitors and other support staff. They must be thorough and accurate, and be able to think independently and react to situations as they arise. The role will involve regular client contact, so good customer service skills are essential. Good IT skills are also essential, with experience of legal accounts and digital dictation software useful.

Miller Sands are a small friendly firm, based in Impington just outside Cambridge. The office has free parking for staff, and we offer a pension, death in service benefit, 21 days holiday (rising to 25 after 4 years’ service) plus your birthday and bank holidays. We are also proud to offer an unrivalled work-life balance to our staff, recognising the pressures of modern life.

Please apply by CV and covering letter.

Closing date for applications: 5pm, 23 February 2018

Interviews will be held week of 5 March 2018, with a starting date of 9 April 2018.
