Square Peg Associates is currently recruiting for a commercially driven Purchasing professional to work with a successful manufacturing firm based in Accrington. The business is experiencing significant success in their market and on the back of this growth; require a Purchasing Officer to help expand their operation.


The role will oversee the following responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the busy external sales force to swiftly deliver procurement services
  • Management of daily stock items and reports on the system and keeping track of lead times and orders received
  • Placing orders and building strong working relations with your suppliers
  • Gaining business sign off and allocating Purchase Order Numbers for all purchases
  • Undertaking due diligence so that 'preferred’ suppliers are meeting their service levels
  • Vast liaison and communication across both internal and external suppliers and key partners
  • The ability to multi task in a fast paced environment with a flexible approach to changing work priorities at short notice
  • A highly self-motivated person, with the ability to working alone as well as being a strong team player
  • Vast amounts of juggling, managing your time and communication with people at all levels


  • Proven knowledge and hands-on experience of Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain
  • The ability to quickly understand detailed supply requirements
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent hands on experience
  • Effective communication skills and a people person in order to build fruitful working relationships
  • A keen eye for detail, effective time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Solid IT skills, use of MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel would be advantageous
