Grafton Banks Finance is currently recruiting for a Group Technical Accountant for a financial services company in Redhill. You will need to be a fully qualified accountant from the insurance or financial services sector with a confident understanding of IFRS reporting standards. Exposure to IFRS 9 would be an advantage although not essential. You may also be working for a big 4 firm and looking for a move into industry.

The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Accounting Change on implementation of accounting change resulting from developments in accounting and other external reporting standards. In particular the role is responsible for researching accounting technical issues that may arise anddeveloping compliant solutions, including drafting policy and implementation documents for approval by the Group Audit Committee. The involvement in implementation of the changes will encompass ensuring that systems and processes are amended as necessary to enable efficient and timely reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist on large accounting change projects as directed by the Head of Accounting Change

  • Prepare technical papers and briefings for senior management and the Audit Committee to ensure that required accounting policy changes are implemented in accordance with the Group

  • Reporting and Disclosure policy

  • Research changes to technical accounting, including the preparation of half annual updates to the Audit Committee to set out the impact of standards that have become effective and those which are expected to become effective in due course

  • Work with reporting functional teams to implement solutions that enable reporting processes to deliver reports within required reporting deadlines

  • Provide technical support in the drafting of Annual Report and Accounts documents for the Group plc and its subsidiaries to ensure compliance with standards

  • Keep watch over developments within the industry and our competitors, applying this understanding to in-house developments as appropriate

  • Provide assistance during the development and implementation of new products or variants of existing products in terms of disclosure and accounting policy changes
