Accounting Risk and Controls Analyst


The opportunity:

We are currently recruiting an Accounting Controls and Risk Analyst to join our UK Finance team in Fareham. This is a key role within our Financial Accounting and Reporting team, who are responsible for the accuracy and data integrity of all financial reporting as well as subject matter experts on technical accounting and financial controls. You will act as in an important technical specialist role within the Accounting and Controls Function to help achieve business objectives and develop Finance’s strategic vision in line with the Business.


Key Responsibilities:

The Accounting and Controls team are a small team that drive accounting policy across the UK non-Life businesses and act as subject matter experts on technical accounting and controls issues. You will be working as part of the team reporting to the Senior Accounting and Controls manager and will be responsible for -
  • Governance manager representing UK Finance on risk forums and issue management.
  • Acting as accounting policy and controls subject matter and supporting the team manager on complex matters.
  • SOX Co-ordinator or subject matter expert on controls and compliance for UK Finance.
  • Interfaces with PwC on technical issues
  • Responsibility for the UK Financial Controls Group
  • Provides technical accounting expertise and accounting policy advice and expertise to finance and other areas of business.
Your skills and experience:
  • Qualified Accountant, preferably with audit experience or experience in a technical accounting role. Experience of Insurance accounting is highly desirable.
  • Experience of performing in an advisory capacity in financial matters to senior management, Directors and CFO
  • Knowledge of financial services legislation, regulation and accounting policies preferred.
  • Market, financial risk and business expertise.
  • Knowledge of financial systems & business platforms (SAP an advantage).
  • Knowledge of insurance products and services
  • Able to understand the wider impact and the big picture in making business decisions
  • Makes decisions in line with responsibility and accountability
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Team player with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, who collaborates across the organisation to help individuals develop their full potential
  • Excellent organisational, time management and project management skills
  • Clearly demonstrates Zurich commitments on a consistent basis
