Technical Control Team Leader Purpose:

Our well-established client based in Trowbridge are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work as part of their Technical Services Team, to deliver a great customer experience by effective and efficient management of vehicle operating costs, throughout their lifecycle and maximising on road time.

Plan, direct and manage the activities of the Technical Control Team to deliver class leading service levels, minimise vehicle maintenance budget overspends, increased usage of core systems (by staff and customers), operational efficiencies within the team and a reduction in deviation from core processes, achieving year on year improvements in.

  • Technical Control Team Leader Accountabilities:

    Manage a team of approx. 8-10 Direct Reports

    Operational Delivery

  • Take ownership for specific customer accounts from a technical perspective to the extent required and deliver enhanced service levels accordingly
  • Deliver a high quality service effectively to all customers, facilitating delivery via chosen providers where used, monitoring performance effectively, managing issues promptly and efficiently, and managing accurate report production and delivery on time
  • Minimise maintenance expenditure and downtime, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with agreed service levels, agreed costs and terms and industry best practice
  • Identify entitlements & provide driver services as required in a professional manner and as per stipulated policy
  • Adhere to best practice processes to deliver a great customer experience and organise, plan and manage the workload of the team, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources and systems to achieve service delivery standards and business objectives
  • Control vehicle costs through effective authorisation & validation processes, ensuring all charges for all work are correct, reflect agreed terms, and are in accordance with manufacturers recommended times
  • Proactively manage business partner supplier to ensure service delivery provision (in relation to any outsourced elements of maintenance control) reflects our client's customer management proposition
  • Proactively manage 3rd party suppliers through review meetings and systems including performance against KPIs and commentary on conformities and non-conformities. Suggest and implement corrective action for non-conformities
  • For each processes owned by the Team, support the Technical Control Manager to document and maintain these processes, monitoring agreed measures of performance, adhering to agreed change control, ensuring that divergence from the existing standard process is fully documented and approved by the Technical Control Manager
  • Support the Implementation Manager to ensure that there is a smooth transition of procedures for fleet managed vehicles of new customers
  • Technical Control Team Leader Person Specification:

  • Sound knowledge of vehicle mechanics and technical awareness
  • To be qualified to Level 3 City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Good PC skills with working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Be solution orientated, able to think outside the “box”
  • Strong people manager
  • Excellent administration and planning skills
  • A team player
  • Professionalism and resilience
  • To have a proficient understanding of the vehicle leasing industry
  • Knowledge of compliance and legal requirements of vehicle operators
  • Proven high standard of administration and workload planning experience

  • Good customer service skills and appreciate the importance of keeping the customer updated at all times
  • Ability to make customer focused decisions whilst balancing costs
