I am pleased to be assisting a reputable SEN School, based in the Horsham area.

The pupils who attend this school are 7-19 years ABI, SEBD, SEMH, MLD, PMLD, ASD.

Due to the location of this school, you will be required to be a driver with access to your own transport.

The opportunity will be to join a committed team of Teaching Assistants to deliver agreed learning activities and support pupil learning in a range of classroom settings, including working with individual pupils as directed.

Main Duties include:

o Deliver learning activities to pupils within agreed system of supervision, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs.

o Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against pre-determined learning objectives.

o Take an appropriate role in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies.

o Provide objective accurate feedback and reports as required on pupil achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.

o Work with the school’s agreed behaviour policy to anticipate and manage behaviour constructively, promoting self-control and independence.

o Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self-esteem.

o Participate in the marking of pupils’ work and accurately record achievement/progress.

o Encourage children to value their experiences and knowledge.

o Make effective and efficient use of ICT for classroom and management support.

o Be familiar and keep up to date with the school’s systems and structures as outlined in policy documents including Health and Safety and Child Protection policies.

o Be familiar and up to date with SEN Code of Practice.

o Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchange information, facilitate their support for their child’s attendance, access and learning and support home to school and community links.

o Provide advice and guidance as required and appropriate.

o Develop and use effective communication systems appropriate to audience.

o Provide support and encouragement to children and young people.

The role is 40 hours per week, term time only, starting salary £16,000 (£18,000 with experience or TA qualification)
