The whole purpose of the job

Internal Quality Assurer

To have responsibility for the quality of provision and quality improvement within the area of responsibility, this is manufacturing and engineering to level 4. To maintain and improve, quality certifications and direct claim status. This will include facilitating inspections and audits conducted by external agencies and to support the self-assessment process to promote quality improvement throughout the department.

The IQA will be responsible for ensuring that robust quality assurance processes are followed across a range of apprenticeship and short course provision. The IQA will support and give advice and guidance to a team of assessors and delivery staff to ensure learners achieves their planned learning aim and make progression. The IQA will work with the Lead IQA to ensure the NA College quality strategy is implemented. The IQA will facilitate the collection of feedback from learners on programme and monitor quality of delivery within the programmes on offer and report changes in quality and compliance trends on the learner journey to the Quality Manager.

Internal Verification and related activities

ØTo ensure compliance, quality and consistency of assessment

ØTo manage and quality assure all qualifications within the scope of area of responsibility.

ØTo prepare sampling plans for Internal Quality Assurance.

ØTo set up, prepare and minute standardisation meetings as required within the scope of area of responsibility.

ØTo organise and run External Quality Assurance visits within the scope of area of responsibility.

ØTo deal with any action points from External Quality Assurance visits.

ØTo ensure qualification units chosen meet the full qualification and where appropriate its framework.

ØTo work with the Lead IQA to ensure programmes delivered are Ofsted and Awarding Organisation compliant.

ØEnsure that all assessors/trainers/tutors meet minimum requirements for vocational competence, CVs, Certificates and on-going CPD.

ØTo develop & deliver internal bespoke training courses. Deliver accredited teaching and assessor training

ØTo confirm Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans meet the requirements of the awarding organisations and funding guidelines for each component of the learner’s journey.

ØWorking with the appropriate curriculum areas, develop Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans where required to improve the overall quality of provision for the department.

ØTo support a team of assessors/trainers to achieve timely success rates with their learners.

ØTo carry out assessor/trainer/tutor moderation observations to meet awarding organisation requirements.

ØTo ensure assessors/trainers/tutors are competent to carry out initial assessment and inductions, vocational and functional skills assessments of learners and make decisions as to the suitability of potential learners to achieve relevant qualifications.

ØTo check the learner’s plan of individual training needs has been adhered to.

ØTo check the compilation of portfolios and to monitor their quality of evidence.

ØTo be responsible for monitoring and tracking the assessment and quality assurance procedure within the area of responsibility.

ØTo participate in course evaluation, quality assurance and self-assessment systems.

General Duties

ØTo prepare monthly reports for the Quality Manager

ØTo complete paperwork in accordance with awarding body, funding and audit requirements.

ØTo ensure own training and development, including CPD, is up to date and compliant with relevant professional bodies.

ØTo support the ethos of NA College, its marketing and recruitment activities.

ØTo maintain the highest professional standards in accordance with the policies/procedures.

ØTo support the Company’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young adults and vulnerable adults.

ØTo travel as required to meet the requirements of the position.

ØTo carry out other duties as may reasonably be required by the Quality Manager

EXPERIENCE

Essential (E) or Desirable (D)

Extensive experience of delivering against government funded work based learning contracts in the past 3-5 years

Experience in curriculum development

Experience of carrying out Internal quality assurance in the past 3-5 years

E

Recent experience and proven track in implementing & monitoring CPD development

E

Experience of and proven track record in delivery of teaching and Assessor Qualifications

E

Proven track record in the management of a team of assessors across diverse qualification

D

Experience of managing Awarding Organisation relationships and EQA visits

E

Experience of delivering internal training and support

E

Experience of implementing and managing change and staff development across a diverse team

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge and experience of using MS Office to meet job requirements

Good working knowledge of e-Portfolios

Excellent knowledge of QCF qualifications at Levels 2 - 5 in own vocational area (Manufacturing/Engineering)

L4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the lifelong learning sector or equivalent
