Job Details

Pearson Education’s Global Editions programme (based in UK and India) is in place to publish US originated titles in versions adjusted to the needs of worldwide markets outside North America. Focusing on Business, Social Science and Science, the Global Editions team commission content from contributors around the world and works with colleagues in Publishing, Editorial, Production, Technology and Sales & Marketing to deliver products closely matched to the local needs of international markets.

The Assistant Editor will work closely with one Managing Editor and two Editors (Acquisitions and Project). You will be hard working, enthusiastic, well organised, and able to juggle multiple priorities while dealing persuasively and authoritatively with contributors and Pearson Education colleagues worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finding and securing reviews and communicating reviews to contributors

  • Maintenance of contributor and reviewer databases

  • Answering contributor queries, managing book orders and generally supporting the contributor network

  • Maintaining correspondence and project files for the publishing programme.

  • Tracking projects and managing contributor progress towards deadlines.

  • Preparing material for handover to project editorial/media teams and completing and circulating necessary handover documentation.

  • Preparing and checking media products as required.

  • Commissioning responsibility for allocated projects. Responsibility for commissioning plan and development which meet the highest quality, time and cost standards.

  • Researching markets and commissioning content to enhance selected print and digital products.

  • Researching, briefing and negotiating with contributors.

  • Ensuring material is appropriate to the different cultural sensitivities of a global audience.

  • Compiling and recording key publishing metrics for the International Editions team.

  • Attendance at all team and project meetings as appropriate.

  • Contract and payment administration as required.

  • Develop an understanding of internal systems as required.
