Full Time

Do you want to be involved in running our largest Plant Centre, owned and managed within a National Trust property? If so, we need your expertise. This is an exciting chance to join a driven and dedicated team at Hidcote. Our Plant Centre is a long established enterprise that is very important in the commercial focus for the National Trust. And we need your help to continue to deliver it.

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year

What it's like to work here

An iconic garden with an international reputation, this colourful arts and crafts garden is intricately designed with a variety of outdoor spaces that will fire your imagination. The 36 staff have exciting times ahead with lots of conservation projects planned. The garden occupies a beautiful rural location in the North Cotswolds, so you are likely to need your own transport to get here.

What you'll be doing

As the Plant Centre Supervisor at Hidcote you’ll be responsible for helping develop the Plant Area and Plant Shop. This is a position currently shared by two people, one of which we now have a vacancy for. You'll be working alongside the other Plant Centre Supervisor and the Retail Manager, working with the garden team, and plant suppliers of plants grown in peat free compost. We need a retail mind to understand how to get the best out of the garden centre, with a passion and proven track record of merchandising, sales and you’ll also understand what we mean by 'Spirit of Place’.

We expect that the garden centre will take £300,000 in sales in 2018/2019, and you'll be responsible for contributing over 75% from plant sales alone, along with making sure that the team of staff you lead share in the vision, passion and values that make this a truly unique place to work. We want our customers to understand that it’s a National Trust Plant Centre, to have our look and feel, and continue to reflect the garden, but that doesn’t mean you can’t surprise or delight them with something new.
