IT Support Technician
IT Support Technician required for a new, full-time role on the outskirts of Durham City. Working for a vibrant, successful regional business you will provide 1st and 2nd line support to Group's Information Systems users in accordance with jobs assigned from the Helpdesk Co-ordinator.
The successful applicant will be required to support the computer needs of the Groups information system users, maintaining the company's Information Systems including servers, printers, virtual infrastructure, network infrastructure, laptops/desktops, software packages and communication systems across all the Group sites.
You will be required to:
Work with the helpdesk system to provide 1st/2nd line support;
Investigate, diagnose and resolve problems via phone, e-mail (1st line support) or in person (2nd line support);
Help and support in the ad-hoc day to day tasks related to helpdesk support of the group;
Ensure IT users have the correct IT equipment and appropriately approved access;
Deliver and support ongoing IT projects;
Work within a team towards team goals;
Input into ongoing problem resolution and delivery of improved services;
Carry out preventative maintenance across the group sites;
Highlight ongoing issues, progress and improvements to the Head of IT during regular update meetings;
Conduct site visits to the Group's Regional Office locations in order to perform tasks and resolve any ongoing issues;
On a day to day basis you may be called upon to help colleagues with more basic IT skills; particularly in Microsoft Office. This will mean you'll need to share your own knowledge with other colleagues within the Group;
1-2 years of 1st / 2nd level IT Service Desk in a busy helpdesk environment
Previous experience of helping computer users either on the phone, via email or in person
5 GCSE's or equivalent at grades A-C in Maths, English & Science
A Level or higher in IT related discipline or equivalent
Knowledge of ITIL processes is desirable
A valid, full UK driving licence - Due to the nature of this position it will be necessary for you to travel to a number of different sites and offices throughout the North East and Yorkshire so a clean full UK driving license is required.
£16,000 to £19,000 per annum
