Main Purpose:
Lead and direct the Quality team delivering a professional service to the business ensuring the maintenance and continual development of the Quality Management System in line with business and customer requirements and expectations

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Determine, negotiate and agree in-house quality procedures, standards and/or specifications
2. Assess customer requirements, ensure compliance and set appropriate service standards
3. Investigate and set standards for quality and the management of quality across the business
4. Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with standards and legislation at both national and international level
5. Work with operating staff to establish processes, standards, systems and procedures
6. Represent the Quality Function within the business Management team structure to identify improvement and ensure prompt implementation of identified actions
7. Determine training and development needs of the Quality team and the wider training requirements for the business with regard to quality
8. Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/quality to maximise profitability
9. Gather, analyse, record and distribute statistical information with regard to quality and the quality management system
10. Represent the business and manage 3rd Party and Customer audit requirements
11. Represent the business in all Quality related Customer and Supplier
12. Specify and implement Purchasing requirements to ensure that Supplier approval, management and continual improvement activities are completed
13. Act as management representative in regard to environmental issues and in respect to the introduction and application of ENV 14001.
14. Develop all written management systems (including ISO9001, AS9100, ENV14001 & ISO18001) into a single Business Management System thereby minimising administration and audit costs.
Person Specification:
Essential qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills and competencies

1. Good organisation and planning skills
2. Pro-active outlook and keen to improve the organisation with a demonstrable impact to the profitability
3. Degree level calibre with an appropriate technical or business related qualification
4. Quality Management experience within Aerospace, Nuclear and Automotive industries (minimum 2 of 3 – Aerospace essential)
5. Minimum 10 years experience in a Quality management role
6. Extensive experience of working in an Manufacturing Engineering environment
7. Analytical with an attention to detail.
8. Good communicator both written and verbal
9. Ability to create and nurture a Team, providing sound leadership and decision making
10. Working knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis and applicable customer and 3rd party standard requirements

Desirable qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills & competencies

1. Management / business qualification
2. Lean Manufacturing / Lean Six Sigma qualified (green belt minimum)
3. Member of Chartered Quality Institute
4. Recent experience of implementing and managing ISO9001:2015 / AS EN 9100:2016 Quality Management Standards
5. Working knowledge and understanding of statistical process control
6. Awareness of UK and European laws relating to Environmental Management (ENV14001)
7. Experience of ERP systems, AX preferred
8. Lead Auditor / Official audit qualifications

1. Team player with strong decision making and organisation

2. Flexible with regard to additional working requirements and occasional travel
