General Litigation Lawyer
Hourly PAYE Rate: £22 - £25.74
Contract Length: 11 months

REED Legal have an exciting new opportunity for a proactive and qualified General Litigation Lawyer who has both an understanding of and previous experience in Public Law, including Human Rights.

You will be working in the public sector with an organisation that offers a varied and intellectually challenging case load. Within this Authority lawyers are called to advise on any number of issues including complex or politically sensitive cases complying with policies, standards, procedures and service level agreements. You will work not only with other lawyers but also as part of a wider team including policy makers and professionals from other specialist areas. Effective team working and client care skills are thus essential to everyday activities. You will be involved in making the law as well as in interpreting it.

Your Main Responsibilities:
 Deal with complex and non-routine cases exercising appropriate levels of delegation and risk management
 Maintain accurate and comprehensible case files
 Co-ordinate all activities relating to the successful completion of the case including
 Ensure the timely handling of invoices during each case
 Comply with Litigation Group’s Quality policies
 Provide a legal service that addresses client needs from outset of each case through to case completion
 Manage all aspects of the client relationship for each allocated case and keep the client informed as the case progresses
 Align the service provided with the client needs in a way that enhances the Agency’s reputation
 Build and maintain relationships with clients demonstrating an understanding of commercial, political and policy context including effective use of the relevant client care system
 Ensure each client is aware of the agreed extent of the service to be provided and cost implications

Essential Skills:
 Reliable legal judgment and appreciates legal risk

 The ability to think strategically and see legal issues in their wider policy context and advise accordingly Engaging People – Collaborating and Partnering

 The ability to work effectively to tight deadlines whilst managing a high volume caseload Delivering Results – Delivering at Pace
 The ability of master new areas of law quickly, work under pressure and prioritise effectively

The ideal candidate will also have previous litigation experience within the public sector or government department and experience of advising on Information Law, however, this is not essential.
