Oxford Vision & Sensor Technology ((www.oxfordvst.com)) seeks to recruit a vision applications engineer to join our team to support our growing work with vision sensors for the automotive production market.

We are looking for a bright and hard working person who is able to learn quickly and ready to make a contribution to the company’s growth in our work with key automotive manufacturers.

The role will involve working at OVST, Coventry area specifying, designing and preparing our vision systems prior to installation. It will also involve working on the installation and support of these systems at our customers sites on the automotive production line.

A great opportunity to grow your career with a full training program to gain knowledge of Machine Vision System (2D and 3D), Robot Guidance Application and Software testing and scripts development. On the course of 2-3 years, with your ambition to learn new technology you will grow your career with us as Vision System Application engineer or related position. You will receive an opportunity to work with robot guidance application and 2D & 3D Machine Vision System for our customers i.e. Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, Ford Cologne and Valencia, Scania and some others.

Working in a small company requires individuals who are able to work well either on their own or in small teams. It also requires people who are flexible and willing to take on a range of different tasks as the workload dictates.

We have recently received R&D grant funding project in UK, project title 'Robot Guidance and 3D Vision System Application with advance integration with Industry 4.0 (IloT - Industrial Internet of Things)’. As part of our development team, you will gain great experience in cutting edge technology in 3D Machine Vision, Robotic and Industry Internet of Things (IIoT).

We are also working for a grant funding with 3D Laser Tracking in Industry 4.0 platform. This R&D project is collaboration funding project between UK (Coventry) and Thai universities (KMITL), the project is an exchange knowledge program between UK and Thailand and the project team will be exchanged knowledge as well as travel to each other for collaboration. This R&D project is supported by the head of Electronic Faculty, KMITL and Professor of Laser Engineering and Editor-in-Chief of Lasers in Engineering at Coventry, UK which is nearby Oxford Vision & Sensor Technology (UK).

Our customers are in the industrial sector and include well known companies. Familiarity with the requirements of electrical control and automation equipment used in a robust industrial environment would also be considered an advantage.

The right candidate will be:

- Educated to degree level in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanics, Mechatronics or similar relevant subject.

- Quick to learn and able to quickly make a contribution to the company

- Hard working

- Knowledge in Electrical wiring and control cabinet design

- Circuit board assembly including fine soldering

- Able to demonstrate a commitment to the successful completion of projects

- Well present and have ability to provide good customer support/service

- Able to communicate well with both colleagues and customers

Key skills:

- A good technical qualification

- Have experience of the automotive production environment and equipment

- Experience in vision sensors and vision libraries i.e. Cognex, Halcon and Sherlock Vision systems in this environment would be advantage.

- Be computer literate and able to use standard PC applications

- Be able to demonstrate good spoken and written skills in English

- Ability to speak Spanish would be highly advantage

- Hold a full driving licence for the UK


The role is UK based and will initially be working with our UK based customers. However, the role has the potential to experience working with international customers outside the UK in the future. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
