Network Consulting Engineer (CCNP level) x1 (£40-50k)

Salary benefits: Car Allowance + On-call Allowance + 5% Bonus

Location: Wiltshire with client travel

Opportunity for 2 Network Consultants to join a small but successful IT Services Organisation to undertake primarily, pre-sales and project work, network, wireless and security within companies portfolio, and will form part of the project team. This role is a customer facing role, with a requirement to deliver pre-sales, implementation and support on customer sites. There will be a need to travel and work some evenings and weekends to deliver customer pre-sales, projects or support as required.

The Network Consultant is a Cisco CCNP or Cisco CCIE with strong skills in routing, switching, wireless and firewalls. The role is as part of a managed services organisation delivering pre-sales, projects and support. The Network Consultant could also act as a 3rd Line escalation point for network related issues. Particular interest is Cisco Security and ISE skills.

Key Duties

  • Provide technical pre-sales support, remotely or onsite, through workshops or presentations
  • Scoping of solutions to meet client requirements
  • Build and maintain technical relationships with clients
  • Performing Configuration, troubleshooting and Administration
  • Creating high level and detailed infrastructure designs and solutions
  • Managing incidents and problems appropriately within agreed service levels
  • Monitoring and maintaining infrastructure to agreed service levels
  • Perform root cause analysis on reoccurring incidents
  • Work as part of a technical escalation team for major incidents
  • Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated to professional standards
  • Provide out of hours escalation support via an on call rota

Skills & Abilities

  • Consults and communicates effectively, both in written and verbal forms with strong presentation skills
  • Flexible attitude to work and travel
  • Experience of Enterprise and Data Centre Network Infrastructure
  • Network configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of complex multi-site and multi-disciplinary problems and incidents
  • CCNP or CCIE for Senior role ( or equivalent Certification )
  • Extensive experience supporting Cisco devices
  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN & Voice Technology and protocols including OSPF, RIPv2, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, VPLS, IPSEC, VPN, SSL VPN, VOIP, SIP Trunking, FCOE and iSCSI), Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Firewall experience - (ASA, Checkpoint)
  • Knowledge of Wireless Technologies, and large scale wireless deployments
  • Knowledge of Security products and services
  • Knowledge of Cisco Prime and/or Solarwinds
  • Experience with networking Windows 2003-2012, VMware, Storage Technologies
