The Media Manager will be responsible for executing a proactive communications plan and engaging with and managing the media to effectively position the organisation on a global stage.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise the organisation's profile in traditional and online media
  • Develop media relations strategy and editorial calendar, pursuing high-level placements in a range of mediums including print, broadcast and online media
  • Develop and execute international media campaigns and day-to-day management of media relations, press conferences and briefings
  • Create content for press releases
  • Pitch stories to the traditional (print and broadcast) national and regional media on an ongoing basis with a view to building the organisation's coverage in key markets
  • Monitor emerging issues related to the organisation's work and maintain a strong understanding of industry trends in order to make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders and internal staff to formulate responses and prepare and update critical materials to help limit and prevent crisis communication
  • Work closely with the communications team to devise and deliver multi-channel communication campaigns
  • Coordinate media inquiries and interview requests
  • Monitor and communicate PR results to the Communications Director on a quarterly basis

Profile

Essential

  • Firm understanding of media requirements and relationships
  • Proven stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to work well within large international networks and the skills to deal with cultural and linguistic nuances
  • A proactive and result-oriented hands on mentality
  • Ability to make pragmatic decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills with an ability to multitask
  • Reliable and a strong attention to detail
  • Tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms
  • Self motivated with a positive and professional approach
  • An enthusiastic and fun colleague to work with!

Desirable

  • Proficient in another language
  • Previous work within the not-for-profit sector

Job Offer

  • A salary of between £40,000 and £45,000 commensurate with experience
  • Flexible working
