Assystem are embarking on a number of new, exciting opportunities in both aero engine and space related programmes, working with traditional Gas Turbine and novel concept/next generation propulsion systems.

We are looking for a number of Design Engineers to join our expanding Gas Turbine Design Group based in our offices in Derby, Bristol and Oldbury.

These roles are for innovative engineers keen to develop their skills in the gas turbine area and work on cutting edge engineering programmes.

Job Description:
Working within our Gas Turbine Design organisation, successful candidates will undertake engineering designs to solve the challenges facing today's aerospace propulsion projects. Successful candidates will play a key role in delivering a high quality service to some of the largest Aerospace Engineering companies within the industry.

Responsibilities within the role include:
Working within our design teams to define engineering solutions to be integrated into the overall engine.
Interfacing with clients' team members and Assystem's project teams and managers to ensure compliance to stringent design requirements.
Maintaining design quality while working within project budgets and time constraints.
Where appropriate, be able to present technical designs to senior engineers and audit panels.

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate an appetite for challenge and be adaptable to the needs of the business and our customers in order to contribute to successful growth.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
Prior knowledge and experience of Gas Turbine engine design is required.

Essential:
A minimum of 4 years post graduate (or equivalent) experience in a Gas Turbine related field would be expected.
Working knowledge of CAD systems (NX or Solidworks).
Experience in designing engineering solutions within a complex environment.
Understanding of mechanics and selection of materials.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and application.
Effective written and verbal communication of solutions to both internal auditors and the client.

Desirable:
Knowledge of Gas Turbines and engine core components
Experience of working to standards and processes such as DfPE, DMAIC and ISO.
Appreciation of fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.

Qualifications:
Candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering discipline
The candidates should be working towards attainment of chartership.
