Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Technician will follow the procedures necessary to assist in all aspects of maintenance relating to an automated system including, but not limited to; powered conveyor systems, telescopic conveyors, scanning equipment, proximity and x-ray technology, chutes and caster/roller decks. It is the responsibility of the maintenance engineer to actively contribute to system functionality at all times to achieve or exceed the Service Level Agreement (SLA) in an organised, efficient, timely and safe manner. The duties of the role will include;
Maintain the automated system and carry out maintenance, repairs and system recovery activities as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering Manager.
Work collectively and collaboratively in order to provide exceptional maintenance support and equipment availability to the wider Network Operations function of the Business.
Maintains the electrical and mechanical elements of the Material Handling Equipment.
Carry out all PPM (Planned and Preventative Maintenance) in line with set schedules for the system and sub-systems to comply with relevant Industry, H&S, legislative and Company standards.
Liaise effectively with Property Maintenance and system Operational colleagues with regards to maintenance issues.
Contribute towards the preparation of departmental procedures and methods for the MHE Maintenance team including continuous improvement activities and collaborative opportunities.
Assist in preparation of reports as requested by Maintenance Supervisor.
Report maintenance activities using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) after appropriate training.
Assess minor job scope of works. and contribute to effective planning, preparation, purchasing, installation / repair and certification of modifications and repairs.
Carry out Electrical inspections to 17th Edition standard.
With a minimum of two years in this field, you will be a proven mechanical and electrical maintenance engineer with experience in a fast paced and demanding manufacturing / engineering type environment and you will have a strong mix of the following skills and experience;
Fundamental Engineering knowledge in mechanics and electrics
Hands on capability to resolve day to day maintenance issues in an effective and timely manner
Engineering Analytical skills and Fault finding
Proactive Team working and communication
Ability to learn and demonstrate the execution of new skills when given appropriate training.
Good analytical skills and sound judgement
Working knowledge of material handling equipment.
Knowledge of Engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
Appreciation of planned preventative maintenance schedules
Ability to safely work at heights from MEWPS and fixed platforms.
Confident use of common power tools, professional and hand tools
Able to accurately interpret manuals and drawings to deliver working capability (mechanics, electrics, pneumatics, hydraulics)
Confident and safe manual handling of electromechanical equipment
Capability in installation of electromechanical devices, knowledge in alignment, application of engineering tolerances, measurements and test procedures.
Basic knowledge and handling of high-tech products and IT-products
Knowledge of maintenance record keeping and use of a CMMS Systems after suitable training
17th edition certification would be an advantage
Able to work flexibly across a 24/7 shift pattern including evenings and weekends on rotation.
