Business Systems Analyst / Technical Business Analyst - up to £50,000 annum + benefits, City of London, Lloyd's Market

Key aspects of the role:

  • You will work closely with the Business Applications team to assist in the delivery of multiple system and business change projects across a number of applications, assisting experienced Business Analysts on our key Projects or taking ownership of smaller projects within the team. You will be working with the business teams based in London to understand their requirements, undertake the required business and systems analysis and then translate these into requirements documents. This will include involvement in all project stages: scoping, analysis, working with the off-shore development team, assisting with the system testing and coordinating the UAT. You will also need to provide oversight of the project, project updates and high-level project plans - occasionally liaising with third part suppliers.
  • You will assist with the resolution of application support issues with the responsibility to work closely with the business teams to understand system issues and see them through to a resolution - This will include involvement in reviewing support issues that have been logged and advising users on ways to overcome them.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analysis of key requirements or support issues, gathering information from business users
  • Supporting Scrum (Agile) activities (e.g. backlog refinement estimation and prioritisation), ceremonies (i.e. sprint planning, Daily Scrum, sprint review and sprint retrospective) and main roles in their responsibilities (i.e. Product Owner, Scrum Master and Scrum Team)
  • Documentation of the scope and functional specifications
  • Handover of requirements to the development and testing teams based in Manila
  • Performing the configuration of applications to support business requirements
  • Assessing the impact on downstream systems, such as the General Ledger, Management Information and Reinsurance systems and working with the MI team to deliver the required changes
  • System testing and support of the business teams through UAT
  • User signoff for enhancements and new releases
  • Co-ordination of projects through each of the above stages and the production of plans and reports
  • Oversight and prioritisation of BAU support requests - Reporting to management about volumes and types of issues raised

Skills required:

  • Ability to write SQL queries for analysis and testing purposes
  • An understanding of the lifecycle of system development
  • Experience of or an understanding of Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum
  • Testing experience
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Experience required:

  • Minimum 2 years as a Business/Systems Analyst
  • Minimum 1 years Insurance experience, preferably within the Lloyd's Market
