The Role

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Aerospace Project Manager will lead a cross functional team responsible for execution and delivery of Engineering Projects across the lifecycle, including NPI, CI and in-production/in-service support. The role will also include:

  • Cradle to grave project management for launch of both NPI & Mods
  • Scope management, assigned resources, costs &schedule of technical solution
  • Project management of assigned projects including: scope definition, management of technical solution, resource demands, costs & schedule, risk & opportunity management, Support technical development
  • Lead indirect project support
  • Provide progress and metrics
  • Collate and manage NPI, CI and cost reduction projects to the wider team
  • Work with customer facing programme manager
  • Lesson learnt from design stages
  • Implementation phase of the project
  • Project budget, timing and profitability responsibilities
  • Initiate technical concepts and product costing
  • Report project status internally and externally and conducts reviews
  • Successful closure of Project

The Person

The experience required of the Aerospace Project Manager based from the Gloucester site will include:

ESSENTIAL

  • Aero/Defence experience
  • 5 years Project management experience leading engineering projects to develop aero/defence products or systems
  • Technical design background
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical including design lifecycle, verification & validation and production processes
  • Record of meeting Project Completion Dates

DESIRABLE

  • University degree (ideally in engineering or business)
  • Landing gear/hydraulics experience
  • Product development- cradle to grave
  • Costs & scheduling
  • Demonstrated ability to build, manage and grow teams
  • written and verbal reporting inclusive of data analysis and KPI assessment
  • inventory holding and management systems
  • Strong organisation skills, including ability to protect and achieve tight deadlines
  • Strong PC literacy skills
