Junior/Graduate Controls Engineer


£22,000 - 28,000 + Overtime + 5% Pension

The Company

My client is a process engineering specialist who design and manufacture turnkey process equipment solutions for clients in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, materials handling amongst other industries. The company turns over £30 million a year with a headcount of 130 and an incredible 70 professional engineers (18 of whom are chartered) across software, process, electrical and mechanical design.

The company have a trading history that dates back over 200 years and a senior management and directorship team who are all home grown from within the business. The company are owned by a large international growth are in 2018 are due to have the biggest year in their history making it a very exciting year to join the business.

Each project is developed from initial enquiry through to full design and finally installation and commissioning on site, a project could last up to 2 years and involves input from process, electrical and mechanical engineers.

The company are currently looking for a Junior/Graduate Controls Engineer Engineer to be involved with controls and software design aspects (PLC Programming, SCADA screens) of projects from design through to site commissioning. Please apply online for immediate consideration.

The Role

The role of Junior/Graduate Controls Engineer will involve:

A project kicks off with a process design in place, the Junior/Graduate Controls Engineer (with support from a more Senior Controls Engineer will then be responsible for:

- Writing the functional design specification.
- PLC Programming with Siemens and Rockwell platforms for the required code for the project (S7/Control Logix)
- Produce the SCADA Screens - RS View, Wonderware, in Touch
- Internal testing off the software to ensure it is fit for purpose.
- Demonstrations for clients that the software is fir for purpose.
- Commissioning of the software at site until it works effectively.

The company have projects in the UK, Europe and USA. On a typical twelve-month project the last few months are the commissioning phase.

You will be joining an Automation division within the business of 30 staff and with many engineers with years of experience in the field. This makes the business a great place to learn as a Junior Controls Engineer. The company have sponsored many of their engineers through Chartership previously.

The company can offer training on Siemens or Rockwell systems specifically if your experience in PLC Programming is on another platform.

The Person

To be successful in your application for this Junior/Graduate Controls Engineer's vacancy you will need:

- Experience in PLC Programming, this could be with Siemens, Rockwell or any other platform.
- A relevant engineering qualification
- To be happy to travel to site for commissioning phase of a project.
- A great attitude to learn and develop.

- Paid Overtime for all hours after 37 hours
- 50% uplift on salary when overseas for more than two weeks at a time
