Business Data Analyst | Permanent - £50K per year | Insurance - London Market | Based in City of London

Our client, a mutual insurance association operating in the London Markets, is looking for a Business Data Analyst to work in their Enterprise Business Architecture department. The ideal Business Data Analyst will be the bridge between the business and the technical experts.


  • Work with the business to enhance the design and development of its management reporting capabilities
  • Proactively identify reporting requirements and suggest solutions based on Insurance industry knowledge
  • Identify all data requirements across the business to support financial, analytical and statistical modelling and to
  • implement optimal reporting solutions
  • Support the Data Governance Forum with all aspects of its remit including data governance, analysis, reporting and analytics
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation and maintain regular communication and coordination between all relevant users/departments
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of operational business data in collaboration with IT
  • Ensure all business and IT related solutions are clearly documented and robustly tested and released properly and efficiently
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external suppliers and manage such in conjunction with IT
  • Prioritise reporting requirements, liaising with Business and IT to do so
  • Develop the skills and knowledge required for the continual effective performance of the role by participating in and actively contributing to training and development activities

Knowledge and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in: Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics or Business Administration
  • 5+ years working as a BA in a financial services environment with a focus on data analysis and MI, with several years in insurance, ideally Protection and Indemnity insurance
  • Knowledge of Excel VBA, Data Warehousing and related technologies as well as strong knowledge of Microsoft Reporting Services
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, understand Data modelling techniques

Skills Required

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Ability to solve complex problems independently and to generate innovative solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Innovative problem solving, design and testing skills
