Head of Knowledge and Insight

Business Continuity Institute, Caversham, Berkshire

The Business Continuity Institute is the professional body serving the business continuity professionals globally. Its activities include the development of the Good Practice Guidelines for the industry, research and insight development, conferences – including its flagship BCI World Conference – working on standards setting and representing the profession on working parties. In addition, its CBCI qualification is one of the leading global qualifications for BC practitioners and the organisation works with a range of training partners globally.

The focus of the role is on the development of the organisation’s intellectual property and ongoing participation in standards development. The research function of the Institute will report into the successful candidate and we are looking for someone who has a background in producing research either academic or commercial and who can confidently deliver the results of these projects at conferences and symposia globally. It is essential that the candidate has a thorough understanding of business continuity and organisational resilience as the role provides technical content expertise to the management team. As such they have an important role to play in the development of educational materials and in putting together the agenda for our global conference.

This is a challenging and highly visible role and may appeal to an experienced practitioner with a research background or someone with an academic background. The ability to work closely as part of a management team and to build external stakeholder relationships is essential.

We are looking for someone with a minimum Masters level degree for this role. Though the scope of the work will be international the post holder will be based full-time in Caversham, Reading, Berkshire UK and it is essential that applicants have the right to live and work in the UK.

If you are interested in applying for this role, please submit your CV and a covering letter to David Thorp, Executive Director, The BCI.

Closing date for applications is Friday 2nd March 2018.
