Perpetrator Support Worker

£29,854 pro rata
Part-time, 7 hours/week
Fixed Term, 12 month contract

Based in Horsham or Crawley with extensive travel throughout West and East Sussex

We are seeking a Perpetrator Support Worker to work with men referred to the Domestic Violence Prevention Programme on a one-to-one basis. You will undertake motivational and needs-led support to address any resistance they may have to engaging with the Programme, as well as provide advocacy support to those that require it, liaising with local specialist agencies where necessary.

In this role, you will conduct initial suitability assessments, deliver tailored work and take part in casework meetings with other Support Workers to ensure that women and children’s safety remain at the forefront. In addition, you will assist in presentations, training events or workshops about the work of the team.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing one-to-one counselling, behaviour change or motivational work and experience of working with men on the issues of violence and abuse towards women; with a commitment to a gender-informed, intersectional approach to addressing this. With strong communication skills, particularly over sensitive and complex issues, you will have the ability to work as part of a team and manage your own administration. Ideally you will have experience of delivering training and have an understanding of the criminal justice system and the legal options available to victims of domestic abuse.
