Job Summary The Software Engineering Lead position will serve as a functional teamleader and focal pointwithin the Shared Platform Software Developmentorganization. This position provides guidance on technical direction,architecture, agile best practices, and direct management of team members. Education: BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the initial point of escalation for software developmentissues within the specified domain. Interface with other technical personnel and product owners tofinalize requirements and translate them into software designs. Develop and deliver new software features and defect fixes usingagile development methodologies. Resolve complex technical issues as necessary. Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices,and code reviews, while guiding the team through incremental improvement. Keep up with new technology developments and make recommendations tothe overall team. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with theorganizations policies, procedures, and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints andresolving problems. Ensure all staff is provided with training and resources needed toperform their jobs to the most outstanding degree possible. Ensure allstaff is provided with frequent feedback and coaching in order to meetand exceed individual and team performance goals consistently. Manage and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvementsthrough innovations. Empower the staff to be accountable and responsiblefor their own actions and decisions. Required Skills: Expertise in development languages including but not limited to:Java/J2EE(including JSP and Servlets), JavaScript, jQuery, New Relic.Also, XML and SQL skills preferred. Knowledge and experience with Amazon cloud technologies. Experience in agile development methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban) Experience in software performance tuning Continuous Integration and TDD/BDD concepts desired XML and SQL skills preferred Ability to partner and lead internal and external technologyresources in solving complex business needs Knowledge and experience in development best practices including, butnot limited to, software builds and deployments, new feature releaseplanning and execution, and security concepts with a focus on preventionand resolution. Strong skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and achievingbusiness objectives and goals through the direct management of others. Ability to work with direct reports to define career paths and plans,address sub-standard performance, and recognize positive outcomes.
