Based from the AlphaBeta Building the role will take responsibility forsupporting the Elsevier portfolio. The technology transformation that istaking place across Elsevier is being delivered by newly formed agileteams across the globe. The Senior Cloud Engineer will be part of theCentral Infrastructure Operations team who extensively use AWS, Puppetand Ansible to provide development operations support to the Elsevierproducts and platforms (ScienceDirect, Mendeley, Scopus to name a few).The role will be part of and support new and fast-growingcross-functional development groups from the early stages with a remitto help shape the technology platforms which the development teamutilise. The role We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Cloud Engineer whowill assist in the design of a functional and maintainable network whowill help build AWS production and development environments and keepsystems working at an optimal level within the larger globalinfrastructure of Elsevier. You will be joining a new and fast-growingagile team in our Central London offices to help deliver high volume,high availability and high performance web sites. This is an excitingopportunity to play a leading role in changing the way that web productsare delivered within the company, devising and implementing a modernapproach to software engineering that enables continuous delivery andreleases features on-demand. The role holder will have excellent stakeholder management skills asyoull be part of the Central Infrastructure team whilst supportingcross-functional product development groups who use agile management andengineering practices. Key Tasks Build and maintain the right cloud infrastructure architecture,balancing performance and resilience with cost. Work on projects as wide ranging as: Migration of infrastructure to AWS from on premise servers Building and maintaining a monitoring estate Building and maintaining a set of tools that enable developers toself-serve for most operational tasks Defining, and maintaining a configuration management system Managing a CI/CD pipeline Building and maintaining an auditing and reporting estate thatprovides all relevant information on current and historic working stateof infrastructure. Helping build out process and define structure round a new andgrowing team that will change as it grows Monitoring live services and responding quickly and effectively toany problems Managing Core services such as JIRA, GIT, Jenkins, etc. Ability to deliver TIO strategy in partnership with the businessplatforms needs Key Skills / Experience Configuration management Puppet AND Ansible AWS deployment, management and incident diagnosis Experience of working in an agile environment Excellent Linux experience at scale Several of the following skills: Terraform Python scripting skills Large scale monitoring and reporting (ELK stack) Carbon/Graphite Continuous Integration systems such as Hudson/Jenkins Git Web and Application Servers such as: NGINX, Apache and Tomcat/Jetty CDN and internet networking Working inside Dev teams to support Operational Requirements Supporting Dev teams as a Sys Admin Extensive experience in automated testing of web applications and webservices in a fast-moving and agile environment Experience in setting up and maintaining an automation framework andtests from scratch Experience with a collaborative BDD approach Agile experience with Scrum / Kanban / XP Experience with automated test tools such as Cucumber / Selenium /Selenium WebDriver / Selenium Grid Experience with Gherkin / Java / Groovy Ability to work on several work streams with excellent timemanagement Excellent team player Able to formulate and execute solution to take into consideration theneeds of multiple stakeholders A positive, constructive approach with an emphasis on collaborationand good execution - provided by Dice AGILE, APACHE, AUTOMATED TESTING, AWS, BDD, BIG DATA, CLOUD, CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT, CUCUMBER, GROOVY, INTERNET, JAVA, JIRA, KANBAN, LINUX, MIGRATION, NGINX, PUPPET, PYTHON, SCRUM, SELENIUM, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT, TOMCAT
