Finance Manager / Head of Finance Grantham - £40,000 - £47,000

Macildowie are working on a retained basis with an exciting and growing academy trust who are looking to in-source their finance function. As a result, I am looking for a strong financial leader who can demonstrate exceptional experience of building finance functions, implementing controls, processes and reporting and helping to drive the strategic and commercial agenda of a business.

My client are well renowned within their sector and have a strong tract record of delivering improved student outcomes. Following a period of significant growth, the time is now right for to appoint their first head of finance.

So what is the job?

Put simply, it's a fantastic one! This is a chance for you to truly build your own function (we are supporting the recruitment of a further 5 roles alongside this one) to define what great looks like. To implement the financial controls and procedures to give the senior leadership the confidence to make investment decisions and weigh up additional acquisitions.

More than this, you will also have a seat at the decision making table. You'll manage the team to ensure that the financial reporting is both timely and accurate as well as looking at ad hoc commercial analysis to give deep dive insight into the business.

Who are you?

You will ideally be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) but due considerations will be given to exceptional QBE's. You will be someone who loves to get the job done, to roll your sleeves up where necessary and to influence senior decision makers through the provision of sound commercial insight.

You will be someone who thrives at building something new. Someone with a passion for mapping out processes, someone who understands the needs for solid controls and someone who loves to drive performance.

You will also be a natural man manager. You'll get a kick out of developing your team, growing skills and ultimately, supporting people through a career path. You don't need to have worked in an academy environment before, or even have experience in the education sector. Your commercial acumen and technical ability is of far higher importance.
