Queen Mary's Grammar School, Walsall

Teacher of Maths

Required for September 2017

Queen Mary's Grammar School is an invigorating and rewarding place to work: the pupils are intelligent and committed to study; the staff are friendly and forward looking. It is far more than just a place of work - it is a thriving community, proud of its past and confident of its future. In November 2008, it was recognised as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, our most recent inspection.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified specialist teacher of Mathematics to join a thriving and exciting department at Queen Mary's Grammar School. The successful candidate will be required to teach from KS3 up to A-level and have the pleasure of working in a dedicated and experienced department. Applications are welcome from both newly qualified and experienced teachers.

Queen Mary's Grammar School is a jewel in the heart of the Mercian region and enjoys a national reputation for academic achievement, topping the Walsall league tables not only for raw GCSE results (79% A/A* at GCSE in 2016) but also for the new Progress 8 measure. The Mathematics department is proud of its achievements too, with 92% of students achieving an A/A* at GCSE in the subject in 2016. The department is a happy and rewarding place to work and with many of our pupils continuing to study mathematics at A-level and encouraging numbers studying Further Mathematics, requiring two classes in both upper and lower sixth form.

Now is an exciting time in the history of Queen Mary's Grammar School. We are establishing the Mercian Multi Academy Trust alongside four other schools which represent a diverse range of educational establishments: Aldridge School, Queen Mary's High School, Shire Oak Academy and Walsall Studio School; this partnership will bring advantages to our pupils present and future; and broaden the opportunities and experiences for staff. Please see the accompanying booklet in the full application pack for further information about the Mercian Multi Academy Trust.

Informal visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged; if possible, please come along to our open morning, details are below. Or if you are unable to make this, please contact Paul Hunt at Hays Education to arrange a visit, obtain more information or request a full application pack.
