£55,000 - £65,000 plus excellent benefits

As the UK's leading funeral services provider, we value people and pride ourselves on offering a caring, professional and compassionate service. We have ambitious plans to grow the business over the next few years both organically and through acquisitions, whilst at the same time making improvements to our infrastructure. We are re-platforming our entire IT estate, digitalising our business, to free up more time to spend with our clients. All this whilst leading on some significant industry initiatives too.

We're looking for a Senior Operations Manager to lead our Central Support team for 9 months. The team brings together our operations including our funeral homes, coffin factory, masonry teams and fleet, with a huge focus on the service we provide to our clients.

What you'll do:

- Act as a sounding board and the go to point for all operational queries

- Take a high level overview of the whole of the funeral care business, reporting into the Head of Operations and Transformation

- Lead and support on projects, working closely with relevant stakeholders and reporting on progress

- Review policy changes and the effect they will have on the operation

- Work with the business to identify improvement opportunities through analysing data and investigating route cause

- Own the operations calendar, making sure planned activity is effectively scheduled to avoid disruption to the operation

- Attend control groups i.e. transformation so you are aware of what is filtering into the operations

We'll need you to hit the ground running in this maternity cover in a fast paced and ambiguous environment. We are transforming our business, something which you will need to be passionate about taking people through that journey of change, whilst maintaining a focus on our clients and the service we provide.

What you'll bring

- The ability to think on your feet, often with minimal information

- Strong prioritisation skills in an ambiguous environment

- Effective stakeholder engagement

- A customer focus

- The ability to identify issues, seek out information and present solutions

If you can help us grow our business, we can offer you a whole world of opportunity. As well as a competitive salary and some brilliant benefits, you'll get the chance to develop your skills. We're going on an amazing journey. If you believe in our purpose, and you're passionate about delivering transformation, then join us. And make a real contribution to the revival of an iconic British brand.

Why Co-op?

172 years ago a group of businessmen in Rochdale created an idea that changed the world. They believed that when people work together, they're stronger. And that principles are just as important as profits. They were pioneers. And they left us a legacy that's never been more important or relevant than it is today.

We want to change the world all over again. And we know that to achieve our goal, we need to recruit teams that reflect the communities we serve. We're committed to equal opportunities, and we're re-discovering the pioneering spirit on which a British institution was built. If you believe in our purpose, then join us. And make a real contribution to the revival of an iconic British brand.
