Interaction Recruitment are currently recruiting for 2 chef managers on behalf of our client a catering facilities manager for a 40 month contract on a construction site on the A14.

Summary of Role:

Running the day to day operation of a busy construction site canteen incljuding organising food deliveries to satellite compounds.

Prepare all items for the provision of meals, have the responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements, manage the catering team and liaise with the Operations Manager /Director and the Client

Duties Involved:

  • Prepare and cook meals and snacks following menus in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations to ensure meals are nutritious & appetising. Devise as required rotating menus in conjunction with the Operations Manager and/or Development Chef.

  • Undertake stock ordering, stock rotation and control of food, packaging and sundry goods, ensuring adequate supplies are always maintained. Carry out all stock takes at the end of every month and provide a report to Head Office.

  • Monitor and report on wastage.

  • Carry out regular checks of kitchen equipment e.g. mixers, fryer, utensils, work surfaces in accordance with specified procedures to ensure all equipment is hygienic and in safe working order and complies with relevant regulations.

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness in all food preparation and service areas. Complete all required documentation. Ensure that appropriate cleaning procedures are adhered to within the kitchen and surrounding area.

  • Ensuring health and safety regulations are strictly observed, recorded and achieved. Responsible for ensuring all workers, including new starters all sign the necessary H&S documentation prior to working on site.

  • Meet with all required Environmental Health legislations.

  • Fulfil all duties as listed on the daily/weekly/monthly duties sheet, cleaning sheets and H&S and HR documentation.

  • To organise and supervise all staff duties within the canteen/catering operation & allocate work where needed. Ensure all employees are fully trained and carrying out their duties as required.

  • Supervise daily counter service ensuring a visible presence to customers to gain feedback to ensure the food and service is of the highest standard.

  • Deal with any customer complaints and take action as required to prevent reoccurrence and report any such complaints raised to the Operations Director.

  • Control the catering budget for the site/department and provide monthly report to Head Office

  • Produce end of month reports for Head Office including but not limited to; takings reports, stock reports, free issues reports (where applicable).

  • Ensure that all takings are reconciled and banked as per the site requirements. (where applicable)

  • Ensure that all equipment is turned off and that all windows and doors are secured upon leaving the building daily

  • Carry out any other duties as may be requested by the Operations Manager or Operations Director to fulfil the obligations under the catering contract.
