International Manufacturer requires an experienced buyer. Reporting directly to the UK Purchasing Manager the role will play a key part in identifying and delivering purchasing pipeline savings projects that have a direct effect on key Company objectives.


·Identify pipeline savings for assigned commodities in line with plant and departmental objectives.

·Work with internal customers to reduce total acquisition costs.

·Process purchase orders and expedite to ensure continuity of supply.

·Ensure all enquiries and contracts are issued and agreed in accordance with Company guidelines.

·Enforce the Company code of conduct in all commercial relationships.

·Understand and apply commercial / English law to all contracts.

·Review supplier terms and conditions to identify and resolve areas of conflict.

·Hold regular contract reviews with suppliers to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement to feed into pipeline projects.

·Ensure the material requirements planning data base is accurately maintained for stores coded items.

·Review stores coded items stock levels and adjust as necessary to ensure minimum holding cost without affecting supply.

·Create and maintain departmental metrics – savings, stock outs, stock accuracy, orders processed, and variable cost forecast delivery performance.

·Ensure payment terms for suppliers are in line with policy or gain approval for non-standard terms.

·Investigate quality complaints from internal customers and instigate corrective actions as necessary.

·Carry out commercial audits of potential new vendors.

·Identify potential customers for sale of assigned waste commodities.

·Raise sales orders as required.

·Identify areas of non-value added activity and suggest changes to processes to eliminate waste.

·Deputise for the departmental manager as required.

·Provide cover for team members during times of absence.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS·Previous experience in an aerospace / engineering manufacturing environment.

·Understanding of technical design and drawings.

·Generating formal tender documents and contracts.

·Global / European sourcing.

·Knowledge of English contract law.

·Interpretation of financial indicators.

·Ability to construct and negotiating contracts.

·Excellent communication and organisational skills.

·Strong influencing and negotiation skills.

·Ability to forge strong working relationships with all stakeholders.

·Excellent analytical skills.

·Competent with office suite and SAP.

What specialised knowledge, education and training are required?·Engineering apprentice.

·Degree – ideally in a related subject.
