Would you relish the opportunity to be part of a Government Department in the middle of one of the most exciting and challenging IT programmes across Whitehall?

Are you someone that can look at, or be given a problem and remove all things that are hindering or blocking its successful delivery?

Public sector IT projects are different in scale to anything you can find in most private sector organisations, so how about being part of a team that is responsible for leading IT change projects for an entire Department and beyond?

Department for Education are looking for a Head of Solutions Development to join our team of IT specialists. You will be working with the support of the Chief Technology Officer and IT Group Executive to coach, develop and lead others within the delivery team. You will be responsible for the quality of technology solutions, development of end-to-end integrated systems, IT application performance and much more. There is huge scope for exchanging ideas and innovations within this role, giving you autonomy and independence. We pride ourselves on using modern software development techniques to help deliver exceptional services.

We want people who are passionate about providing professional services and want to make the Department a great place to work. You will have experience of working as a developer using cloud-based technologies. You will be a strong communicator with expert stakeholder management who can build your reputation within the organisation, with ability to influence senior managers and stakeholders. You will have experience applying Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and experience delivering web-based services/API’s, alongside expertise in either Java, .Net or JavaScript.

In return, you will enjoy an excellent rewards package which includes flexible working, Civil Service Pension and career progression, as well as constant investment into your development.

Closing date: midnight on Monday 6th March 2017.

Candidates are required to submit a CV and a covering letter outlining why they would be suitable for the role (as outlined above) based on their skills and experience. Please see the candidate information pack for more information.
