Supply Chain Manager

Permanent Opportunity

Role Profile

  • To lead and manage a team of Supply Chain Professionals whilst self-managing own programme of work.
  • To develop and self-manage a programme of Sourcing activity to achieve agreed benefits targets in line with Business Planning requirements.
  • To participate (where required) in the development of Category plans and to ensure Sourcing strategy is aligned to agreed category plans.
  • To follow a strategic sourcing methodology for the selection of Partners and the award of agreements. On occasion, the postholder will be required to undertake "spot purchases" not covered under framework.
  • To work with and provide commercial support as necessary to framework managers.
  • Where directed, to proactively manage supplier performance.
  • Where necessary to lead / or participate in Partner improvement programmes.
  • To actively promote and support effective performance of all stakeholders involved in the purchase to pay process.
  • To work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best practice is adopted throughout the supply chain.

Key Accountabilities 1: Team Leadership

  • Line management responsibility for a team of Supply Chain Professionals.
  • Coach individuals to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Support the Supply Chain Operations Manager in the development of annual business plans and to manage performance to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

Key Accountabilities 1: Source to Framework

  • Develop a rolling 12 month planned programme of work based upon stakeholder and operational needs.
  • Appoint framework partners following a strategic sourcing methodology or where procurement regulation allows, through good industry practice.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on a "spot buy" basis where appropriate.
  • Comply with EU Procurement Regulations, internal AWS policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all awarded agreements support the Purchase to Pay process through effective procurement.

Key Accountabilities 2: Supplier Relationship Management

  • Work as part of a team to identify opportunities / benefits through improved working practices with supply chain partners.
  • Work as part of a team to drive supplier development to optimise the total cost of ownership.
  • Segment supplier base to ensure all suppliers are profiled and assigned an appropriate relationship status.
  • Key Accountabilities 3: Supplier Performance Management
  • Collaboratively set meaningful and realistic metrics that will measure the performance / value delivered.
  • Work with framework / contract managers and provide support as necessary to ensure the necessary performance standards are met.

Key Accountabilities 3: Health and Safety

  • Ensure Health and safety is paramount at all times both in the office and supplier selection.
  • Ensure CDSCM Health and Safety Code of Practice are adhered to and stakeholder responsibilities explained and handed over in a competent manner.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the office and with suppliers.
  • Discuss and share Health and Safety issues with your manager and team

Key Accountabilities 4: Data Management

  • Ensure that relevant data systems are maintained and are up to date to allow effective decision making and facilitate communications to internal stakeholders and external Partners / Suppliers.

Key Accountability 5: Purchase to Pay

  • Ensure agreements support the Purchase to Pay process and allow for easy and effective procurement.
  • To actively promote and support effective performance of all stakeholders involved in the purchase to pay process.

Budget Responsibility

There are no direct budgetary responsibilities but targets are identified and set upfront on an annual basis and the post holder will be expected to deliver against this target

Qualifications and Experience/Personal Skills and Behaviours

  • Ability to manage and coach people.
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals.
  • Educated to degree level in Procurement (preferred) and / or CIPs qualified or working towards.
  • Educated to degree level in Business Studies or similar / related (preferred)
  • Good commercial acumen
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong level of mathematical reasoning for bid assessment
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • A wide variety of skills including good business sense, financial management, a flair for communication and negotiation, creativity, innovation,
  • Good organisation skills to manage workload plan.
  • An up-beat, can do personality.
  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to understand and apply processes
  • Awareness of attention to detail
