This is a newly created sales role within a dynamic and exciting portfolio and team who encourage an entrepreneurial spirit that keeps the business and people growing! My client is a leading global business media company looking for a hungry and successful sales person to sell stands and sponsorship opportunities but someone who sells 'beyond the stand’ and has a consultative approach to customised solutions for their clients.

You will have sales experience in one or more of the following areas: exhibition stand, sponsorship, and/or advertising (print or web based). You must show a determination and ability to deliver and exceed sales results with a proven track record.

Your responsibilities will include: individual sales and lead generation, one year cycle account management, and assisting the Head of Business Development where necessary with tasks such as managing the floor plan, contracts, the database, sales mailings, sales letters, sales reports, activity reports and show features.

Ideally you will be a classically trained sales person with an event or media background. Other candidates may be considered depending on relevant transferable skills.

Skills/experience/attitudes:

  • Proven track record in hitting and exceeding individual and team revenue targets
  • Excellent telephone sales experience/manner
  • New business generation and Account management experience
  • Proven track record of successfully managing time between contacting existing database lists, researching/sourcing potential new business and cold calling
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with exhibitors, sponsors, partners and the rest of the show team
  • Market focus - ability to immerse self in chosen market sector, absorb an industry, it’s issues and players, and apply that knowledge strategically and tactically to the selling of the event
  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated, resilient, determined, assertive, good objection handler, capable of working under pressure to tight deadlines and prioritizing
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills

You will:

  • Maximise all potential sales on the events by executing current sales plans, meeting and exceeding monthly and annual sales targets and developing income from other sources ie sponsorship and stand revenue
  • Maximise digital and non digital sponsorship opportunities across the show
  • Implement specific sales activities ie telephone canvassing of prospects, researching and creating new business, account management, customer care, specific mailings & proposals, lead monitoring/gathering, establishing key areas of customer interest, generating increased customer awareness in the market place
  • Visiting competitive shows
  • Liaising with internal departments/functions - marketing, operations, conferences, accounts, PR etc.
  • Administer booking options, create and issue contracts, ensure return of booking options, sales contracts and payments, and advise customers on registration, sector, location arrangements, etc
