Salary £15 - £16K p.a.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Law Graduate to work within a growing team in a firm within a Legal 500 practice. As a Law Graduate/ Case Assistant you will be responsible to support the team in the day to day running of the re-mortgage caseloads. If you are a fresh Law Graduate and want to gain valuable working experience of working within a large firm of solicitors then this could be the ideal opportunity for you to join my client as Case Assistant. This role is a 1 year maternity contract which could lead to a permanent role.

The Main Objective of the role of a Case Assistant are as follows:

- To support Case Handlers in the day to day running of the re-mortgage caseload including having contact with banks, building societies and others involved in the remortgage or other property related transactions.
- To ensure that the highest level of customer service is provided at all times.
- To have conduct of such matters as are allocated to you within your own skills and experience and to become progressively aware of all aspects of the business and products in order to act constructively when dealing with legal work.
- To achieve personal targets set and work within deadlines, performing required tasks to a high standard. Maintaining the Firms core values at all times.

The main key responsibilities of a Case Assistant are as follows:

- Obtaining official copies and documents from the Land Registry.
- Title checking whether property is freehold or leasehold/name & address match, restrictions and other non-standard issues.
- Requesting and chasing redemption statements from mortgage lenders.
- Chasing outstanding documents from borrowers/brokers by phone and letter (where applicable).
- Supporting Case Handler with post on a daily basis which will include checking remortgage documents, mortgage deed, ID, insurance and questionnaires.
- Checking redemption statements for penalties, shortfalls and sending copies to borrowers (where applicable).
- Taking shortfall payments adhering to money laundering regulations and the Firm’s policies.
- Chasing discharge documents from mortgage lenders, sending discharge documents to the Land Registry, dealing with overpayment cheques within their post completion procedures.
- Dealing promptly and effectively with all telephone calls in a diplomatic, efficient and polite manner. To ensure that excellent customer service is provided at all times.
- Processing data accurately and effectively on the case management system as required. Processing all data and information in accordance with the firm's confidentiality procedures and data protection requirements.
