What is the purpose of this role?

To manage the day to day delivery of both hard and soft services within HMP Hewell.

The role will be focussed on the delivery of a range of facilities services to buildings in line with contractual commitments. Will manage a team of circa 28 staff with a mix of electrical, mechanical, building related skills but also cleaning and stores operatives in the delivery of hard and soft services.

What will this role involve?

  • Ensure all legislative and Prison Service mandatory requirements are met
  • Ensure all corporate polices and procedure are implemented and complied with
  • Managing the sites and the reactive aspects of the site work
  • Participation in the Emergency On Call processes primarily for escalation but also to participate where required
  • Ensure all services are delivered in line with contractual commitments
  • Carry out first line management duties with staff including disciplinary and employment processes
  • Revenue generation from additional work identification
  • Provide information exchange with on-site customers
  • Oversee the day to day operation and strategic management of the Estate/building on behalf of the client
  • Engendering a proactive company culture to first generation TUPE staff.
  • Developing ongoing business improvement incentives

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of the Facilities Management marketplace
  • A strong Hard services background
  • Experience of working within a Prison would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience of first line management of a similar sized team.
  • Sound knowledge of service delivery
  • Supply chain management
  • Demonstrable experience of budgeting and managing costs
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and implementation of policies
  • OSH Managing Safely
