Income Officer - Part Time
YMCA North London is an independent charitable organisation affiliated to the national and international YMCA movement.

We want to recruit a Part Time Income Officer to support a caseload of young people to manage their money in a way that prevents them from getting in to arrears. Working within the benefits system to ensure residents maximise their income and meet what is required of them to maintain their benefits. In the eventuality of clients falling in to arrears; staff are to engage in effective income recovery techniques to prevent these from escalating and reduce.
This post will be 28 hours per week working rotating shifts Mon-Sun (weekend cover will be required) and the Shifts will be between 08:00-22.00.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring frontline staff deliver an excellent standard of support to 157 residents in the areas of maximising income, arrears management and budgeting. This means upholding internal procedures and honouring external funding requirements.
Duties will include monitoring all resident’s accounts on a weekly basis and carry out appropriate tasks to prevent and reduce the likelihood of further debt; Working with Housing Benefit to ensure clients are providing appropriate information and their claim is consistently in payment; Following the rent management procedure and ensure clients are issued with appropriate warnings before they reach the eviction stage; Challenging any Housing Benefit underpayments or overpayments to ensure the cost to the resident and the organisation is limited; Following up Former Resident Arrears to recover any existing arrears and put forward for write off when this is not possible; Completing all monthly arrears tasks within the deadlines provided by line manager; Completing budgeting workshops on a weekly basis for residents who are at risk of eviction
Candidates should possess a high degree of professionalism and be efficient and effective in carrying out their duties.
Experience in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.
