Project Manager - Telecoms / Utilities - £70k Annum - Hook - NEW Exclusive

My clients are one of the leading smart metering solutions providers in the world. They focus on designing, developing and manufacturing innovative and technologically advanced energy meters and metering systems for the global utility industry.

They are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in delivering and managing a large scale projects within the Utility, Telecoms and IT industries. The role will include full planning and management of customer projects/ deployments, overseeing all requirements and ensuring success of project. This will involve extensive liaison with colleagues, partners, vendors and customers enabling good communication between all parties, critical to the success of the project.


Project Control -Ensure all assignments go through the appropriate set up processes and then effectively managed through delivering on time, to budget and to scope. Develop and maintain project plans and schedules. Formally close the project defining lessons learnt and arrange post-implementation reviews.

Financial Control -Define and agree budget, gain budget approval via company procedures, Forecast, track and report costs and benefits to ensure delivery to approved budget, and clear visibility of forecast benefits

Business Requirements Definition -Identify all deliverables required to achieve business objective. Challenge requirements to ensure optimum delivery vs achievement of benefits. Maintain Project focus on achievement of benefits

Risk Management - Develop and implement appropriate strategies for managing risks and issues and ensure that mitigation plans are identified and controlled by appropriate resources. Ensure that risk management and issue resolution activities are operating effectively and that key strategic issues and risks are escalated to project board. Evaluate risk and identify where escalation is appropriate, addressing issues, assumptions and dependencies.

Quality Management - Manage Project quality including quality reviews. Ensure implementation supports functional performance targets and budgets. Share best practice with other project managers and change staff working on similar projects.

Key Skills:

- Project / Programme Management experience with IT/Telecom deployments
- Smart Metering
- Knowledge and experience of project management methodologies
- Excellent communication and liaison skills
- Good understanding of both the sales and delivery functions and good understanding of their linkages
- Suitable business change qualification ISEB/Prince2/APMP
