Bell Microsystems is a technology services provider; supporting its customers through the complex lifecycle of their assets from acquisition through to retirement, including supply of all the resources required to consult, support and project manage throughout the journey.

Role context:

- The role incorporates all functions carried out by the Tier 1 tester.
- Tier 2 Testing.
- Leading to "Super User" Blancco status for processing all media types within the ITLM Asset sales process.
- Warehouse Duties.
- General housekeeping, compliance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Tier 1 Testing

* Standard Laptop's, Monitor, PC's & Workstations. (POST/IN BUILT DIAGNOSTICS)

* Standard x86/x64 Server technologies. (HP/Dell/IBM)

* General layout and components. Standard cards and features

* Looking for/recognising media. / data.


* Basic electrical safety.

* Basic fault analysis.

* Grading quality

* Cleaning

Tier 2 Testing

* Advanced Servers (Sun/Oracle/Fujitsui Siemens)

* (V/T & M? Series, Primepower?) IBM Power Series

* Advanced layout and components.

* Network / SAN Equipment / Firewalls/ Loadbalancers/ Proxies & KVM's

* Storage Arrays.


Data Erasure

* Using Blancco. Leading to Super User status. Wipe methods.

* Basic fault diagnosis.

Leading to:-

* Understanding data held on HDD/ SSD considerations

* Media interface types and restrictions, Raid controller considerations & JBODS.

* LAN server setup and technology.

* Storage Array

* Degauss technologies.

Produce Media Certificates and audit documentation when required.

Communicate with engineering department as required for testing information.

Develop and maintain extensive hardware database for ITLM equipment.Assist with Asset sales stock checks and reports. Assist with WEEE stock .Advise the management team immediately if any problems connected to any of the items listed occur that have an impact on the business.

Other requirements

- Ability to travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight stays
- Able to work out of hours including occasional night and weekend work, sometimes at short notice.
- A full current, clean UK driving license would be beneficial.

Person Specification:


- Hardware / Software knowledge.
- Warehouse Knowledge.
- Advanced PC skills using Microsoft products
- Able to work on own initiative
- Ability to work with Colleagues at all levels and a confident communicator across all levels
- Health and safety and electrical safety awareness.
