The Role:
Our client is a leader in the overhaul and repair of the screw elements of air and gas compressors. They offer services mostly to domestic UK compressor distributors and service providers as well as a few overseas customers. Due to turnaround speed, they generally repair the elements sent to us by our customers.
However, there is another business model which can be attractive and open up new markets. Where they are able to provide an overhauled unit from our stock on an exchange basis, the time it takes our customers to overhaul the compressor (changing out the air end, oil, filters, etc.) is shortened. Offering such a service can also open up markets beyond the UK, as long transport time and costs presently limit our opportunities.

For this reason, they are looking for a Project Engineer to launch this new business segment. In order to capitalise on this opportunity, several new things must be put in place.
* Knowledge database linking air ends, part numbers and compressor models needs to be expanded
* Stocks of rebuildable air ends must be increased
* An on-line store needs to be established on our website or on a suitable 3rd party business platform so that overseas customers can find what they need
* A system to recover (and rebate) core units must be established
The Project Engineer should have a background in engineering, and have a good appreciation for commercial matters. Experience in the operation or repair of rotating machinery would be a big plus.
Our operation consists of a small team, so the hierarchy is quite flat and communication and knowledge sharing is quite straightforward.

·Evaluate options to deliver the project which will meet Company objectives
·Develop a project plan and timetable with intermediate goals
·Identify and coordinate internal and external resources which may be required
·Maintain project documentation
·Assure that the business processes developed are handed over to the operations team to operate and maintain.

Position Requirements - Essential:
·Engineering or other technical background
·Proven organizational experience including attention to detail and multi-tasking
·Good written and verbal communication skills
·Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel

Nice to have:
·Knowledge and/or appreciation of sales and/or distribution processes
·Knowledge of machinery repair processes
·Knowledge of Microsoft Access software
·Understanding and hands-on experience web commerce
