Salary starts at £16,132 to £16,700 per annum (pro rata) rising to £18,500 (pro rata) through performance plus Sleep In Shifts of £31.29.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring Support Worker like you (known internally by us as Support Worker – Level 2) to join our service which provides support to  compliment an established team in our Mental Health Supported Housing and Community-based Services across the East of Ipswich.

Our service delivers a range of high to low Supported Housing providing support for customers with severe and enduring mental ill health and those with a dual diagnosis. We have a Community Recovery Service which provides support to customers living independently in the community. We also have a Short Stay Service and a Respite Service based within one of our 24 hour services. We work in close partnership with Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust and other key stakeholders across Suffolk.

As an experienced Support Worker, you’ll help change lives for the better by assisting in delivering identified tasks based upon customers’ individual needs and aspirations, as identified within their personal support plans.  You’ll liaise with external agencies and work closely with our Support Co-ordinators too in assessing and engaging support for our customers.  Together you will really make a difference, empowering our customers to develop the independent living skills they need to successfully move on with a positive future.    

It’s really important to us that you have time to what you are really care about; changing customers lives for the better.  So to free up your time, you’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go.  You’ll also be paid between customers visits and for your mileage too.

A bit about you

We want someone like you, with the passion and motivation for helping vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives.  To flourish in the role, you’ll have a practical understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and support plans. You’ll be great at managing your own time, working on your own initiative, have strong communication skills and be able to positively influence people from all different backgrounds.  It’s important to us that you have the compassion and empathy to work with vulnerable people in a housing related social care setting and we do need you to also have good IT skills too.

We’ll be impressed if you have knowledge of this sector, our customer group and experience of working with hard to reach customers, but don’t worry as we’ll also develop your skills in this too.   

You will be required to work as part of a rolling rota including sleep-ins, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

We also provide an out of hours on call service (providing additional support to services for emergencies outside of normal office working hours).

You will get an additional payment for Sleep in and On Call duties. Shift times in the service can range between 7:00am to 11:00pm, colleagues sleep-in during 11pm to 7am. Day shifts are usually 9am-6pm or 12midday-9pm, depending upon the needs of customers and the service.

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
