Reed Education are currently working with an amazing school on an exciting new role in the East London area.

Starting ASAP, the school are looking for a hardworking and experienced learning mentor to join them on a long-term basis.

This is a large primary school with 21 classes and a nursery. They can accommodate around 700 students and are working hard to provide a supportive community, exciting opportunities to learn with a well-discipline environment for the children.

The School:

• OFSTED rated ‘Good’
• Striving to maintain the high standard for the SEN students

The Role:

• To research, plan and deliver 1-2-1 mentoring/support sessions with identified students on a range of subjects that may be hindering individual learning
• working with school staff to select pupils for mentoring
• discussing the aims of mentoring with pupils
• supporting under-performing pupils inside and outside of the classroom
• agreeing and writing action plans
• liaising with schools, teachers, social workers and educational psychologists and making referrals where appropriate
• To ensure the Child Protection Officer is informed immediately of any concerns relating to safeguarding in relation to the students you mentor/support
• helping pupils to increase their confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies
• To maintain accurate records on named students which measure the impact of your intervention

What you will need:

Experience working as a Learning Mentor
Relevant qualification as teaching Assistant or equivalent
Experience working with various SEN Needs
An ability to communicate effectively with students, students, parents
and multi agencies
Good organisation, time management, communication and
interpersonal skills.
